Branson truly has something for everyone, and animal lovers are no exception. The National Tiger Sanctuary, located a little north of the city, is the place to visit if you want to see and learn more about big cats. While the non-profit sanctuary mostly features tigers, you’ll also get to see other felines like leopards and lions.
Education about big cats is a priority for the sanctuary, and they offer different types of guided tours for the public. You can learn about the care of the animals or watch feeding time. There’s even an all-day VIP tour that gives you an up-close look at the facility. After your tour, make sure to stop by the gift shop to pick up a souvenir or two. All proceeds go to take care of the animals. The sanctuary provides a safe environment for animals to recover from health issues and mistreatment, but also works with the Missouri Department of Conservation to eventually return them to proper living conditions for exotic animals.
Tours occur Wednesday and Thursday at 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., and 4 p.m. You can learn more about the sanctuary, donate, or volunteer at their website, here.
