Branson’s patriotism is reflected in so many aspects of the community. But nowhere is it more evident than in our entertainment. In addition to our fantastic shows that highlight this amazing country and its people, we’re lucky to have an original, patriotic play starting a limited engagement at the College of the Ozarks in October.

“Flames of Freedom: The Perilous Journey of an Ozarks Aviator” tells the true story of a graduate from The School of the Ozarks, Lt. Earl Woodard of the Army Air Corps. “Woodie” was a B-17 bomber navigator who was shot down in occupied France during World War II. This compelling story follows Woodie’s journey with the French Resistance and the Queen of the Pyrenees, who smuggled soldiers out of France during the war.

The Jones Theatre Company’s performance of this fascinating story will be held at the Keeter Center Royal Oak Forum on the College of the Ozarks campus. You can also make a day of it by having lunch or an early dinner at the Keeter Center. Performances are at 2:00pm and run from October 3rd through November 16th. On Veteran’s Day, November 9th, there are special performances for veterans at 2:00pm and 7:00pm. All performances are free.
