The fall temperatures have yet to arrive, so take advantage of the Indian summer weather by visiting Moonshine Beach. It’s a great place to enjoy outdoor recreation when you have a break in your schedule of taking in shows.
Picture yourself relaxing on the shore of beautiful Table Rock Lake, feasting your eyes on the shimmering water surrounded by a luxuriant forest. You can hike and swim as well as fish and scuba dive. The setting is also perfect for a picnic. It won’t be long before the coolness of autumn transforms the area foliage from lush greens into a kaleidoscope of golds and oranges. You’ll want to visit now but plan to go again in the fall. The beach is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
Drop into the Dewey Short Visitor Center nearby to see interactive exhibits and a film about the area. Browsing through the displays is a great way to become familiar with the local flora and fauna. It is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week through October 31. Admission is free.
