Have fun exploring downtown Branson on this hop-on, hop-off ride!
Have you met Sparky? Sparky is Branson’s free hop-on, hop-off trolley that offers 12 stops throughout downtown Branson. Sparky operates from 9 am to 6 pm every day but is closed on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day (10 am- 5 pm weekends only in January and February). Sparky enables you to easily travel throughout downtown Branson and stops at Branson Landing as well as the Branson Convention Center.
The history of Sparky the Trolley
Sparky the Trolley appeared on the Branson scene in 2006 with the name the Downtown Branson Discovery Trolley. It was the first public transportation system in Branson. Initially the trolley only made five stops throughout downtown Branson.
In 2011, the trolley board of directors hosted a contest for area students to name the trolley. The winning submission was “Sparky,” submitted by then third-grader Ben Walworth. He selected the name Sparky for Pearl “Sparky” Spurlock, who owned and operated a tour and taxi business in Branson in the 1920s. Her Branson taxi operated for nearly 30 years and took tourists all over downtown Branson.
Once Sparky had a name, a CGI mascot was created by a local Branson company and Sparky the Trolley was officially born! You can now follow Sparky on several social media channels and visit Sparky’s website for more information about the downtown trolley.
How to ride Sparky the Trolley
If you’re interested in taking a spin on Sparky, the website makes it easy to plan and track your route. The website offers a trolley tracker that tracks the routes in real time so you won’t have wait long to hop on. You can easily determine how long it will take you to get from one stop to the next and figure out when the next trolley is set to arrive at the stop you want.
Sparky runs a single loop, and there are usually at least two trolleys running at one time. If you want to explore downtown Branson, you can ride the entire loop in about 30 minutes. While onboard, there is a video that runs that tells you more about Branson. You can get on and off the trolley at any of the 12 stops in downtown Branson. Stops include Bass Pro Shops, Lakeside RV, Branson Landing, Belk and more. See the full map here. The trolley is wheelchair and service animal friendly.
